The Bergeon 6495-12 Aluminum Setting Making Tool is a precision jig designed for jewelers and metalsmiths who fabricate wire prong settings by hand. This specialized tool streamlines the process of laying out and building wire settings, ensuring perfectly symmetrical prong placement every time. With one end angled at 10 degrees and the other at 20 degrees and grooves sized for consistent spacing, this tool brings accuracy and repeatability to custom stone setting fabrication.
To use, cut strips of wire 20–30 mm long and place them into the grooves to arrange 4-prong, 6-prong, or any prong count the grooves support. Secure the prongs with super glue or binding wire, and add gallery wire for additional support as needed. Because the tool is made from aluminum, it is compatible with laser welders and PUK welders—you can make your welds without removing the setting from the jig first. If torch soldering, remove the setting from the aluminum jig before applying heat. Once the setting is assembled, remove it from the tool, trim the wires to fit your stone, and optionally form the finished round setting in a bezel block to create fancy-shaped settings.
