Pitch Bowl Kit with 8" x 4" Deep Bowl, Pitch and Pitch Pad

The Pitch Bowl Kit gives metalsmiths and chasers everything needed to set up a complete pitch bowl workstation in one purchase. The kit pairs the popular 8" cast iron pitch bowl with a properly sized rubber pitch bowl pad and a full 2-kilo (4.4 lb) tub of German Red/Brown Pitch — the trusted choice for chasing, repoussé, and stamping work.

The deep cast iron bowl measures 7-7/8" outside diameter × 3-7/8" depth (inside: 7-3/8" × 3-1/2"), providing a stable, heat-retentive base for working metal. The rubber pad cradles the bowl securely at any angle, allowing you to reposition your work without the bowl shifting. Note that 4.4 lbs of pitch will not completely fill this deep bowl — simply pack the bottom with an inexpensive filler such as ready-mix concrete before pouring pitch. While the concrete is still wet, press a few fingertip depressions into the surface to give the pitch a mechanical grip once it sets.

Notes

The 4.4 lb tub of pitch will not completely fill this deep bowl. Fill the lower portion with an inexpensive filler such as ready-mix concrete. Before it sets, press fingertip depressions into the surface to create mechanical keys for the pitch to grip. Additional German Red Pitch (2-kilo tub) is available separately.
