These brass tube forms from Fretz are purpose-built blanks for jewelers and metalsmiths who need a reliable starting point for forming bezels, rings, bangles, and other circular components. Designed by Bill Fretz in response to consistent demand from working jewelers, these pre-made forms save significant bench time by eliminating the need to cut and prep raw tubing.
Each blank is cut from seamless extruded tubing composed of a malleable brass alloy — 70% copper and 30% zinc — making the material responsive to forming, doming, and annealing. After cutting, the edges are cleaned on a belt sander, the blanks are annealed, and then given a basic tumbled finish. The result is a clean, ready-to-use form that accepts further metalsmithing work with minimal prep.
Keep in mind: when making convex (domed) forms, doming will reduce the finished diameter. When making concave forms, the finished diameter will not be affected.
