Product Details

Sterling silver Inverted Heart gallery wire is crafted from a storied tradition — the equipment used to produce this wire dates to 1920s Germany, and the entire factory relocated to Israel in the 1950s, where a family business continues to manufacture this distinctive gallery wire for fine jewelry applications.

The Inverted Heart design is closely related to the Crown design (see part number 844-701), but the two are distinct. The Crown design sits on a beaded base, while the Inverted Heart features a smooth base. The Inverted Heart stands 4.5 mm tall, compared to the Crown at 4.0 mm. Each length is sold in 12" pieces, with an approximate weight of 3.8 grams per foot.

Ordering note: Order 2 units or more and one continuous piece 24" or longer will be sent unless otherwise specified in the order comment field.

Features

  • Distinctive inverted heart pattern with a smooth base — distinct from the Crown design
  • Produced in Israel using historic equipment originally manufactured in Germany in the 1920s
  • Family-operated manufacturing with decades of continuous production
  • Hard (as-rolled) temper holds shape well after forming — ideal for stone settings
  • Temper can be modified by annealing: flux the wire, heat to a dull red, then quench in pickle
  • Sold in 12" lengths; orders of 2 or more units ship as one continuous piece unless noted otherwise

Notes

  • This wire is hard and not annealed. It performs well for shaping stone settings but may be damaged by extensive bending or wrapping without annealing first.
  • To anneal: flux the wire, heat to a dull red, then quench in pickle as soon as it cools below red.
  • Temper may vary from batch to batch. Handle with care due to the delicate nature of hard wire.
  • Wire may have sharp or rough edges as manufactured — finishing may be required.
  • Sterling silver will naturally tarnish. Exposure to sunlight, humidity, and salt water accelerates tarnishing. Store in airtight packaging with tarnish strips. Most tarnish can be removed by polishing with a mild abrasive or soaking in an anti-tarnish solution.
