The Guardian II differs from the original Guardian by featuring slightly larger triggers that are bent over to present a smooth surface when unlocking from the post. The original Guardian used straight, ridged tabs. Also known as Guardian II Ear Nuts and Guardian II Safety Earring Backs, this positive locking design descends from the French ZOP system introduced in the late 20th century. The Guardian II is now the dominant locking earring back system on the market.
