Gold Guardian II Positive Locking 6.1mm Earring Backs with Comfort Triggers

The Guardian II Positive Locking Earring Backs — also known as Guardian II Ear Nuts or Guardian II Safety Earring Backs — are a 6.1mm outside diameter clutch with comfort triggers, designed to fit a 0.89mm diameter post. These backs offer a secure, positive-locking hold: the triggers snap closed around a groove on the matching ear post and can only be released by squeezing both tabs simultaneously. The Guardian II improves on the original Guardian design with slightly larger triggers that are bent over to present a smooth surface for easier unlocking. Available in 14K and 18K yellow or white gold, these findings are made in the USA using 100% recycled gold by a leading precious metal findings manufacturer certified to ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental) and ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) standards.

Positive locking earring backs have been available since the French introduced the ZOP system in the late 20th century. While the original ZOP system and some successor brands are no longer produced, Guardian backs have become the dominant locking system in the market. These clutches are recommended for use with their matching ear posts (see 20B-302POMAIN). Skilled jewelers may also adapt compatible posts to work with this system.
