Product Details

This value line economy engraving block is made in India and looks very similar to the out of production USA Victor engraving block as well as the out of production Vigor engraving block that was once made in Japan. The big difference between those blocks and this economy block is that the top jaws of this economy block are integrated into the unit and are not removable. The fit and finish is nowhere near the quality of a GRS or Pepetools engraving block. This economy engraving block is for the student or the beginner on a budget. Includes a complete set of attachments and a key for opening and closing the jaws.

We recently took one completely apart to give it a good look at. We found the unit to be overly covered with protective cosmoline, a product used to inhibit rust. Since this is and all steel (not stainless steel) unit, the maker coats it with cosmoline to keep it from rusting in the very humid environment it comes from. We highly suggest that you take your economy block apart and give it a good cleaning with a dry rag (not wet or your block will rust) before putting it in service. All in all this value line engraving block is fairly crude compared to the GRS or Pepetools engraving block.

If looking to compare engraving blocks, consider that the made in the USA Glendo GRS engraving blocks are far superior to this economy engraving block.

The pin hole sizes on top of this block are compatible with the GRS pin tools in the GRS attachment set(s), part number 103.520 or 103.520MPV.

This is the 5" standard size engraving block. The 5" measurement refers to the maximum width of the round block. Supplied with a base. The jaw width is 2-5/8" with a height of 1-1/2". The maximum opening of the jaws is 3".  Weighs about 21 lbs.
