Glardon-Vallorbe LO0401-WS Flat Traditional Gravers in Carbon Steel are the professional engraver's choice for generations. These are traditional-style flat gravers that require shaping and fitting into a handle before use. Carbon steel is the ideal material for engraving on precious metals, wood, bone, ivory, and onyx — delivering the edge retention and temper that demanding work requires.
Recognized by the iconic Fish trademark, these Swiss Made gravers are widely regarded as the finest quality jewelers' engravers on the market. They are made by Usines Métallurgiques de Vallorbe SA (UMV) of Vallorbe, Switzerland. Previously sold in the USA under the Grobet name, since 2015 these gravers have been marketed under the factory brand name Glardon-Vallorbe — the same name used throughout the rest of the world. Jewelers, stone setters, die sinkers, and watchmakers everywhere rely on the consistent quality and perfect temper of these precision-made tools.
Swiss sizing is measured in 1/10 mm increments, with USA sizing noted where available. Each graver is 100mm in total length, comprising a 65mm useable shape and a 35mm tang. Many gravers are marked with both the USA graver number and the Swiss graver number for easy identification.
