The Foredom M.LX 230V Flex Shaft Kit pairs the M.LX 1/10HP 230V Permanent Magnet Low-Speed, High-Torque Motor with the C.TXR-2 230V Variable Speed Foot Control in Plastic Housing — a purpose-built combination for professional jewelry stone setters and anyone who demands precise, high-torque performance at low speeds.
The LX Series is the direct successor to the discontinued EE, R, and original L series motors, engineered specifically for the demands of professional stone setting. Stone setters rely on low-speed operation under load, and the M.LX delivers with a permanent magnet ball bearing motor rated to a maximum of 5,000 RPM. Unlike motors that bog down under pressure, the LX Series maintains consistent torque even at reduced speeds — making it equally well suited for use with hammer handpieces, which are also designed to operate at lower speeds.
The M.LX Series requires dedicated speed controls and is not compatible with Foredom SR Series controls. The LX and TX series motors are permanent magnet ball bearing motors that run on DC current. The C.TXR-2 and related TXR, SXR, and EMX controls include special electronics that convert AC current from a wall outlet to the DC current required by LX and TX series motors. These controls also feature a shielded plug specifically designed to fit the LX and TX motor connection — they cannot be adapted to or from SR series controls, despite a similar appearance.

- Do not attempt to use SR series speed controls with this motor. The LX series requires dedicated TXR, SXR, or EMX controls with the appropriate shielded plug and DC-converting electronics.
- This kit is well suited for hammer handpiece use, including the Badeco Swiss Made and Foredom 15-15D hammer handpieces, as these tools are designed for lower-speed operation.
