The Foredom M.LX Motor is a specialized high-torque, low-speed flex shaft motor engineered specifically for jewelry stone setters and hammer handpiece applications. Rated at 1/10 HP with a maximum speed of 5,000 RPM, this permanent magnet ball bearing motor delivers consistent power at low speeds without bogging down under load — exactly what professional stone setting demands.

The M.LX series is the successor to the discontinued EE, R, and original L series motors developed for professional jewelry stone setters. It is equally well-suited for use with hammer handpieces, such as those designed for lower operating speeds, since hammer handpieces perform best within the M.LX's optimal speed range.

This motor ships with a standard-length key-tip shaft and a flexible neoprene sheath, making it compatible with quick-disconnect handpieces from Foredom and other professional brands. Build your own custom flex shaft setup by pairing this motor with a compatible speed control and your choice of handpiece.

Important: The Foredom M.LX motor requires a compatible speed control — never plug this motor directly into a wall outlet. The LX series uses permanent magnet ball bearing motors that run on DC current. LX-series controls include special electronics that convert AC current to DC and feature a distinct shielded plug style. SR-series controls are not compatible with the M.LX motor and cannot be modified or adapted for use with it. Compatible controls include the TXR, SXR, and EMX series.

This is a 230V motor intended for international use. Handpieces, foot controls, and tabletop dial controls are sold separately.
