110V / 120V supply only. This unit is built for standard North American household current (110V / 120V). Running it on 220V / 240V with the use of a transformer voids the warranty. Confirm your outlet voltage before powering on.

The Badeco 217 Medium Spring Strength Hammer Handpiece with USA Duplex Spring Attachment (part number 134.751-217) is a genuine Swiss-made reciprocating hammer handpiece recognized by stonesetters worldwide as a benchmark in quality, control, and long service life. This version includes the USA duplex spring attachment for added flexibility during use.
Setters who work exclusively on delicate stones often prefer the medium spring 217 over the heavier 222 model, as its lighter stroke provides more refined control. The handpiece features an easily adjustable stroke and controllable power delivery that professional jewelers depend on for precision setting work.
Important Motor Requirement: This handpiece must be operated using a Low Speed High Torque Foredom motor. The pedal controls speed, not power. Using the correct motor will extend the life of the duplex spring.
This handpiece connects to the North American standard QD key tip flex shaft found on Foredom and other flex shaft machines sold in North America. Adapters for European slip joint flex shafts are available separately.
The handpiece includes one Badeco 137.753 (Badeco 240.000) non-hardened tip, intended to be shaped and hardened by the user according to the factory instructions below. A wide variety of pre-shaped and hardened tips are also available separately.
Tip Hardening Instructions
Step 1 – Hardening: Hold the tip at the thread part with tweezers (do not damage the thread). Heat the front part with a blowlamp to 820°C (light cherry-red). Cool rapidly by placing the tip head-down into an oil bath.
Step 2 – Remove Oil: Whiten with fine sandpaper. Do not touch the point with your fingers.
Step 3 – Tempering: Pass the piece from back to front over a blowlamp to 130°C (the color must not change). Cool immediately in an oil bath. If the temperature is too high, the tip will lose its edge rapidly on first use — restart from Step 1.

Notes
Motor requirement: Must be used with a Low Speed High Torque Foredom motor to protect the duplex spring and ensure proper operation.
Duplex spring angle limit: Do not bend the duplex spring beyond 45 degrees during use. Exceeding this angle can damage or destroy the spring.
Duplex spring caution: Duplex springs are not manufactured by Badeco and carry no warranty. They can fail during normal use or when detaching the handpiece from the flex shaft. It is recommended to purchase spare inner duplex springs (single: part 134.279 / Foredom HP76; pack of 12: part 134.280 / Foredom HP76B) and learn the replacement procedure.
Warranty terms: Badeco's one-year warranty covers faulty material or workmanship. Units dismantled by the user during the warranty period will be repaired at the user's expense. Damage from improper use or failure to follow Badeco instructions is not covered. Otto Frei offers in-house repair services for Badeco hammer handpieces.
