2 Ounce Pack-Re-Cast-It Gold Alloy Refresher-Replenisher

Re-Cast-It is an alloy additive designed for recasting old or scrap yellow gold. It does not contain gold and is not a substitute for gold, but when mixed with scrap yellow gold and some fresh fine gold, it helps restore castings to a bright, clean finish. Each pack contains 2 troy ounces (40 DWT) of Re-Cast-It alloy refresher and replenisher.

Mixing Ratios

The following ratios apply per 100 DWT of scrap gold:

For white gold, these ratios may be used, but effectiveness is limited to 1–2 cycles due to yellowing. When continuously reusing scrap combined with fresh metal, use half the above amounts to avoid excessive deoxidizer buildup.

Melting Instructions

1. Place Re-Cast-It at the bottom of the crucible, then place scrap on top.
2. Once molten, stir with a carbon rod for gas-fired or torch melts, or a quartz rod for electric induction melts.
3. Fluxing with boric acid may be required depending on the condition of the scrap.
4. Best results are achieved when scrap is free of oxides and investment powder residue.

Notes

If gold is contaminated with cuprous oxide (red oxide), only limited positive results can be expected. Re-Cast-It is not a substitute for gold and will not alter the karat of the alloy on its own.
