Carbide burs are the longest-lasting burs available, outlasting both tungsten vanadium and high-speed burs. These Busch Fig 1AU Carbide Round Burs are engineered for use on the toughest metals — including platinum, titanium, and steel — and deliver exceptional service life even on standard gold alloys. Their durability makes them more cost-effective in the long run compared to conventional burs. Manufactured in Germany using state-of-the-art techniques, these round burs feature a powerful blade geometry typically reserved for steel tools. All shanks are 3/32".
These carbide round burs are used for the second step of pavé setting in hard metals. After using the Carbide Twist Drill 4205S to drill starter holes in the first step, use the appropriate size Fig 1AU Carbide Round Bur to enlarge the hole. This creates a secure mount for the roundest portion of the gem being set. The smallest diameter burs are also suited for cutting in difficult-to-reach corner areas and fine refinishing work.
This complete kit includes 19 burs ranging from 0.50mm to 2.30mm, covering the full range needed for professional pavé setting workflows.
