Presidium Gem Computer Gauge PCGC

A gemstone gauge measures a stone at the bench and turns those measurements into an estimated weight, and this one does the arithmetic for you. The Presidium Gem Computer Gauge (PCGC) combines measurement, weight estimation, and identification in a single instrument, reading to 0.01 mm, ten times the resolution of a standard analog dial-style gauge. That makes it useful to diamond handlers, gemologists, and appraisers who measure, sort, and match loose or set stones.

The gauge works as a fully standalone tool: enter measurements on the onboard keypad to estimate gemstone weights and identify unknown stones. Connect it to a Windows PC with the included USB cable and the software suite on the included mini CD-ROM adds data for 59 more gemstones beyond the 74 built into the gauge, bringing the total to 133 gemstones across 9 shapes. The software also handles data manipulation and storage and lets you create weight estimation profiles for custom gemstone types.

Further functions include a Specific Gravity Dictionary that retrieves the S.G. value of any stored gemstone by name, a Gemstone Estimator that identifies unknown stones from entered measurements and weight, and a direct carat conversion for round brilliant cut diamonds. The Auto-Magnetic Power-Off feature activates on its own when the gauge is placed in its carrying case, preserving battery life.
