After soldering, enameling, and final pickling or bright dipping—and before turning the catch—boil the catches in water with a small amount of soap and ammonia added, then dry without rinsing. After plating, if catches bind, apply a little liquid wax into the slot with the pin inserted to restore smooth operation.
