The Fretz HMR-305 Large Raising Hammer is a broad-faced raising hammer designed to move metal quickly when hammered from the outside of a broad shape. Part of the Extra Large Silversmith Hammer line introduced in 2015 by Bill and Jordan Fretz, the HMR-305 compresses metal down to the stake, leaving it in a relatively smooth condition compared to pieces raised with a narrow cross-pein. It is often used for angle raising in conjunction with an R-101 Raising Stake.
These extra-large silversmith hammers are built for moving thicker, heavy-gauge metals without excessive physical strain. The weight of the hammer does the work rather than the arm and shoulders, making the process of forming heavy stock significantly more manageable. The handles are well-formed, smooth to the touch, and finely finished, with thicker diameters than those found in the Fretz Large Silversmith line. Heads are cast from 422 Stainless Steel with fully polished ends. For use with non-ferrous metals.
These hammers are available individually or as part of a set of five. See part number 137.341-KIT for the kit.
