The Meiji EMZ-10 uses different optics than the EMZ-5 and requires its own dedicated auxiliary lenses. While the lens mountings are physically compatible between models, using the wrong auxiliary lens will result in unexpected working distances and suboptimal focus. These lenses are designed specifically for the EMZ-10 to ensure accurate performance.
Each auxiliary lens reduces the magnification of the EMZ-10 by its listed factor while increasing the focal length and working distance. This trade-off gives jewelers and metalsmiths more room to maneuver between the objective and the work surface — a critical consideration for many bench tasks.
Note: The EMZ-10 provides more working distance than the EMZ-5 when both are used without auxiliary lenses. Most jewelers find the EMZ-10's native working distance sufficient for jewelry work, especially when paired with a Jura Microscope Mount. Auxiliary lenses are still recommended when additional working distance is needed.
