The Meiji EMZ-5 Stereo Zoom Microscope with 10X eyepieces and 0.5X auxiliary lens is by far the most popular microscope in use by the jewelry industry for precision stonesetting and all-around jewelry work. Notes
A word about auxiliary lenses: Auxiliary lenses increase working distance — an important feature for jewelers working with their hands under a scope — by decreasing magnification power. The 0.5X auxiliary lens is the most common choice for bench-mounted setups using the GRS Acrobat stand, providing a comfortable working environment for jewelers seated at a bench ranging approximately 5'6" to 6'2" in height. Depending on your stand, bench and chair height, and personal preference, a different auxiliary lens power may be more suitable. Since most detailed work is performed at lower magnifications, the reduction of higher powers when using an auxiliary lens is generally not a concern. The auxiliary lens can be removed when higher magnification is needed. For prolonged use without an auxiliary lens, the 0X protective lens (129.409B) is available separately.
