The Otto Frei Starter Soldering Kit brings together all the essential tools and materials needed to begin hard soldering in jewelry making. Hard soldering — known as brazing in other industries — is performed with a torch at temperatures starting at approximately 1500°F, using silver or gold solders. It is distinct from low-temperature soft soldering done with soldering irons and tin or lead solders.
This starter kit contains nearly the same items found in the Otto Frei Professional Soldering Kit, but in smaller quantities to keep the price accessible. A less expensive pickle pot has been substituted to reduce cost further. A small amount of silver solder is included, so all that is needed to begin hard soldering is a torch of your choice.
