An essential component of any professional soldering station, Solderite Soldering Boards in the soft compound formula are 3/4" thick — softer than standard 1/2" Solderite boards. That softer composition allows you to stick pins directly into the board and press impressions into the surface to hold workpieces securely in place during soldering.
Solderite boards are OSHA approved as an asbestos substitute and are made of calcium silicate with inert fillers and reinforcing agents for strength. They offer excellent heat reflectivity and cool down quickly after use, making them more efficient than ceramic or silquar boards for larger soldering jobs that benefit from additional reflected heat. Compared to charcoal blocks or firebrick, Solderite boards provide a cleaner working surface.
