Otto Frei Advance Stone Setting Kit

Setting stones cleanly at the bench takes a hammer handpiece that is never run past its spring, burs sized for the work, and the motor built to drive them, and this kit brings all three together. Developed in collaboration with professional jewelers, the Advanced Stone Setting Kit is built for serious students and working professionals rather than first time makers, and it assumes you already own a standard flex shaft and basic jewelry tools such as pliers and files.

Two Swiss made handpieces sit at the heart of the kit: the Badeco Hammer Handpiece and the Technique Quick Change Handpiece. The Badeco Hammer Handpiece must be used exclusively with the included Foredom LX motor, which is engineered for high torque at low speed with a maximum of 5,000 RPM. Both handpieces work with the LX motor and can be alternated as needed, and for a faster workflow the Technique Quick Change Handpiece can be moved to a separate Foredom SR or CC motor.

The kit also carries an exceptional educational component: Robert R. Wooding’s Diamond Setting: The Professional Approach manual and his introductory diamond setting DVD, an authoritative learning resource from one of the most respected instructors in the trade. A 30 piece Swiss bur kit for 3/32" shank tools, bezel setting tools, and a selection of hand tools round it out so setting can begin right away.

Compatibility

• Both handpieces take 3/32" diameter shank tools.
• The Badeco Hammer Handpiece runs on the included Foredom LX motor only.
• The Technique Quick Change Handpiece runs on the LX motor, or on a separate Foredom SR or CC motor.

Notes

• A standard Foredom SR or CC motor is rated to 18,000 RPM and will damage the Badeco Duplex spring if operated above 5,000 RPM, so use only the included LX motor with the Badeco Hammer Handpiece.
• For an optimized workflow, a second Foredom SR or CC motor, sold separately, can be dedicated to the Technique Quick Change Handpiece.
• Double hanger 134.616, sold separately, allows two motors to be hung at the same time.
• The kit assumes ownership of a standard flex shaft and basic jewelry tools such as pliers and files.
