Product Details

This double sided reducing plate has 12 openings (6 to a side) and is smoothly polished to prevent marring. Holes on both size start at the same diameter but the tapers are different on each side when used with the Kagan ring stretcher and reducing tool. The reducing plate is used to slightly reduce the size of plain round precious metal (gold and platinum) wedding bands. This is the Kagan USA made reducing plate found on the world famous Kagan ring stretcher and reducer which has a round plate that pushes down on the ring when the lever is pulled.

Recently these reducing plates are being used for making coin rings using ball bearings. You can check out videos on how this is done on you tube.

For reducing ring sizes the 27mm outside diameter of the largest hole should be able to reduce a USA size 13-14 plain domed band of medium weight a full size. The outside diameter of the ring is the limiting feature, not the ring size of the band.

A new use for this reducing plate is for making coin rings. You can check out videos on how to make coin rings on you tube.
