Salamander Super A crucibles are made of natural flake graphite and silicon carbide bonded with fine clay. Designed for consistent, reliable performance across a wide range of applications, these crucibles handle ferrous, nonferrous, and precious metals with ease. Maximum operating temperature is 2912°F (1600°C).

Features

  • Clean melting performance
  • High refractoriness for demanding melt temperatures
  • Good thermal conductivity for even heat distribution
  • Good resistance to chemical corrosion
  • Suitable for ferrous, nonferrous, and precious metals

Notes

Break-In Procedure: New crucibles should initially be heated slowly and evenly to 1112°F (600°C). After the initial break-in, bring the crucible to a uniform bright red condition over its entire surface—approximately 1650°F (900°C)—before charging with metal.

Flux: Only add flux once the metal is fully molten.

Preheating for Molten Metal: Crucibles that will receive molten metal must be preheated to a temperature equal to or slightly above that of the incoming molten metal to minimize thermal stress.
