Not to long ago it was difficult to find decent platinum polishing compounds for the jewelry trade available in the United States. You could use green rouge, which is not bad, but your choices were very limited as compared to today.

We are fortunate to have a wide selection of imported and domestic compounds that work superbly on polishing platinum and other hard metals, like stainless steel and titanium. All of these compounds will give outstanding results, with minor differences in the final sheen that might only be visible on close comparison. Which one is the best? It’s hard to say since all of these compounds have fans that will swear by their superior bright finish.
