This 20x triplet loupe features three bonded lenses that are highly corrected for both spherical and chromatic aberrations. The hexagon-shaped body houses a 20.5mm diameter lens, delivering sharp, corrected magnification ideal for close-detail inspection tasks such as viewing laser inscriptions on diamond girdles and other precision examination work where high magnification is required.
It is important to understand that 20x loupes are not used for standard gemological diamond grading — that application requires a 10x triplet loupe. The 20x magnification is best suited for tasks requiring greater enlargement beyond what a 10x loupe can provide.
Due to the laws of optics, all 20x loupes — regardless of lens diameter — produce a very small field of focus and a shallow depth of field. As magnification increases, the in-focus area decreases significantly compared to lower-power loupes. Notably, the 20.5mm lens diameter of this loupe will yield the same in-focus area as an 18mm lens at the same 20x magnification. This is a characteristic of the optics, not a limitation of this specific loupe.

20x loupes are not recommended for standard diamond grading, which requires a 10x triplet loupe. All 20x loupes, regardless of lens size, produce an inherently small field of focus and shallow depth of field — this is a property of high-magnification optics. Custom imprinting is available for orders of 100 or more loupes; please contact us for details and pricing. Allow 6 weeks for delivery on custom orders.
