The Otto Frei 5-1/8" (130mm) Half-Round/Concave Jaw Mirror Polished Bending Pliers are precision hand tools designed for forming bezels and bending wire with controlled, consistent curves. One jaw is half-round and the other is concave — and when the jaws are brought together, the bend in the half-round jaw matches the concave jaw perfectly. The concave jaw measures 7mm while the half-round jaw measures 6mm, making this an ideal tool for fine, detailed metalwork at the bench.
Made in Germany from carbon steel, these pliers offer superior strength compared to stainless steel alternatives. Carbon steel resists bending and misshaping under repeated use, ensuring long-term performance and reliability. The mirror-polished finish provides a refined working surface suited to professional jewelers and metalsmiths.
As with all carbon steel tools, some care is required: carbon steel will naturally develop a patina over time and can rust if left unprotected. Rust is easily addressed with light sandpaper. To protect your pliers, wipe them down with an oily rag after use or store them under one to prevent moisture exposure. Note that because carbon steel is rigid, it can fracture if subjected to shock from dropping or stress beyond its design limits — though such breakage is rare under normal bench use.
