Jasper is an opaque chalcedony that can display a variety of colors and patterns, making each stone unique. These round red jasper cabochons feature a rich brownish-red base with black dots, swirls, and banding — no two stones are exactly alike. Jasper belongs to the chalcedony mineral group, which is composed of microscopic quartz crystals not visible to the unaided eye. Historically, chalcedony was prized for carved cameos, intaglios, and document seals. These cabochons carry no treatments, making them ideal for setting in jewelry, metalsmithing projects, and resale.
