Swiss Blue Topaz is the trade name used to describe a vivid medium to medium-dark blue hue of topaz. This gem is a great alternative to aquamarine, offering more intense color at a lower price point—making it an excellent choice for custom jewelry work and resale inventory alike. While blue topaz is popular and plentiful in the jewelry market, naturally occurring blue topaz is actually very rare. Colorless topaz is treated with irradiation and heat to produce the characteristic vivid blue color associated with the Swiss Blue designation.
These round cabochons are eye-clean with minute inclusions visible only at 10x magnification, delivering a clean, polished appearance well-suited for setting in rings, pendants, earrings, and other finished jewelry pieces. Blue topaz is also recognized as a birthstone for December.
Care: Clean with warm, soapy water only. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners. Handle with extra care due to possible cleavage.
