Otto Frei 4-1/2" Mirror Polished Prong Pulling Pliers-German

These Otto Frei 4-1/2" Polished Prong Pulling Pliers are a modified pair of chain nose pliers. The lower jaw is grooved to support the prong, while the upper jaw is slightly cut back and “hooked” so it may grab the prong as it lays against the stone. Recommended for pulling prongs up to 1.50 mm thick. The 5-1/8” pliers have a more pronounced “hook.”

Otto Frei Mirror Polished Pliers are made in Germany by one of the last manufacturers of hand made pliers left in Europe. The "mirror polished" feature requires additional hand finishing, adding to the expense of these quality pliers.

These pliers are made from tough carbon steel which is much harder than stainless steel. As these pliers are used, the mirror polish finish will degrade as carbon steel is affected by moisture in the air and your hands. This is a natural process and results in a patina that some folks consider a sign of a well loved and treasured tool. If you want to keep them shiny new, keep them protected from moist environments (store them under an oiled rag), wipe them with the same rag at the end of the day and polish them with some green rouge ever so often.
