The Baldor 340 has a length from end to end of 13-1/8" (measurement taken without spindles attatched), with a shaft height of 4-11/16".

 

Fitting Baldor Motors with Spindles or Chucks:

 

This Baldor polishing motor has a tapered shaft that is a friciton fit to the tapered spindle or chuck accessory.  Set screw type spindles are not meant to be used on Baldor tapered shaft motors.  To fit a Baldor tapered shaft spindle or chuck, gently but firmly tap the spindle or chuck onto the tapered shaft with a mallet or a piece of wood until a snug fit is achieved.  To remove, unscrew the spindle remover on the motor shaft of the Baldor motor until the spindle or chuck is pushed off.
