The Coil Cutting Jump Ring Pliers are a specialized bench tool designed to hold wire coils securely while you cut them into uniform jump rings using a jeweler's saw. Made of stainless steel, these pliers feature a jaw that firmly yet gently grasps coils ranging from 4.5–9.0mm outside diameter. A precision slit in the jaws guides the sawblade, allowing you to cut multiple jump rings quickly and consistently in a single pass.

The pliers are box-jointed for smooth, aligned action and fitted with PVC comfort grips for extended use at the bench. At 7" in length, they provide excellent leverage and control. A pin extending from the plier head allows the tool to rest stably on a tabletop or bench pin, and can also be secured in a vise or a drilled hole for hands-free cutting stability.

Notes

Jeweler's saw frame is sold separately. For best results, follow these usage guidelines:

  • Coil 18–20 gauge round wire around a mandrel or wood dowel — maximum coil length of 16mm (5/8")
  • Mount a 2/0 or 3/0 sawblade in your saw frame and lubricate with Stay Sharp or equivalent blade lubricant
  • Open the pliers and place the coiled wire against the pin stop on the inside jaw
  • Close the jaws and align the plier slot with the sawblade; rest the plier on the stabilizing pin for support on a tabletop, in a vise, or in a drilled hole
  • Insert the sawblade into the slot at a 45-degree angle to ensure the blade cuts only one side of the coil
  • Use slow, even-pressure strokes — cut jump rings should slide onto the sawblade as they are freed; if not, invert or open the pliers to remove them

Required accessories (sold separately): jeweler's saw frame, 2/0 or 3/0 sawblades, mandrels or wood dowels, 18–20 gauge round wire, and blade lubricant.
