The Orion mPulse 30 Pulse Arc Welder with Basic Auto Darkening Lens (model 313010) is a compact, easy-to-use pulse arc welder designed for professional jewelers and metalsmiths working with precious metals and stainless steel. Its small footprint makes it ideal for bench use, while its precision power control and spot welding capability open up a range of time-saving production applications. The included basic auto darkening lens is notably large and performs well in daily use.

The mPulse 30 excels at quick, small welds — making it especially valuable for closing jump rings, chain making, and spot weld fixturing of parts prior to soldering. Power is adjustable from 3 ws to 30 ws in 1 ws increments, with one shot per second, giving the user fine control over weld energy. Spot size ranges from 0.8 mm to 1.5 mm depending on metal type.

The unit uses an Argon gas shield to protect welds from atmospheric oxygen, which can cause brittleness. The Argon gas connection is straightforward to set up, and gas is dispensed automatically when the stylus is used. An Argon tank and regulator must be purchased separately — tanks are available at welding supply shops, and compatible regulators are available from Otto Frei.

If you are a torch-only shop doing repairs, chain assembly, or work with tiny parts, you will encounter technical obstacles and time constraints that can only be overcome with a welder.
