This is a 14k yellow plumb gold disc used for calibrating the AuRACLE gold tester.  Calibration is very important when using the AuRACLE, and you should use a 14k yellow plumb gold sample for calibrating. Any piece of 14k yellow gold you have that you are certain is .585 (14K) will work for calibration gold.  "Plumb" gold refers to the fact that this gold is no less than .585 (14k) percent gold, the standard for 14k gold in the United States for close to 30 years.  Prior to the introduction of plumb gold standards, jewelry marked 14k in the United States could be as low as 13.5k.
