A solid jeweler's workbench made of pine that customers praised as "very stable with NO wobble." Assembly typically takes 1-2 hours. Shoppers noted it's "good enough for a starter" bench at a great price. Some reported missing or misaligned pre-drilled holes requiring drilling. The soft wood can dent easily, so customers recommend adding a protective surface for heavy work.

nice and sturdy but no holes for assembly in some areas

Good thing we had an electric drill because there were no holes at all to add sections to the top of the bench. We looked at pictures, looked at the rather vague directions, and drilled the holes. That was a surprise because the bench is great and Grobet is usually right on top of quality. I could give this a 5 star rating except for that. Otto Frei gets my 5 stars for doing such a great job straightening out a problem with the shipping address. Anyway. Nice bench now that it's put together! It's a 5 star bench with some drill hole problems!

Grobet Heavy Duty Jewelers Workbench

VERY HAPPY WITH MY NEW Grobet Heavy Duty Jewelers Workbench. Customer service was AMAZING. I ordered the bench on Monday... received it on Wednesday. Took about 1 hour to put it together (took my time doing it) and everything fit perfectly. All holes lined up and it is very solid... great bench. I would definitely recommend it.

Good Bench at a Great Price.

I purchased this Bench for my Apprentice who had been working on a small table-top unit which she had quickly outgrown. We found the Instruction quite adequate and took the suggestions of other reviewers and used a good wood glue at all crucial support joints. It is on the lighter side over my 36yo particleboard/plywood bench but seems quite sturdy and well-made. The ONLY 'drawback' I see with this model is that the wood used is quite soft. I could "dent" the top by simply writing something on a piece of paper with a ballpoint pen. We have remedied that by putting a thin sheet of pressed board over the main work area. If someone is going to do a great deal of heavy hammering or high pressure work on a perch-mounted engraving ball, I might think about a Bench made of denser wood. Otherwise, this is a good deal!

I like it fine

Bench arrived in good condition as it is packed well. After laying out all the parts it took me a couple of hours to assemble. I used wood glue and some clamps to do the job right. Have my new bench in a corner for additional support and I like it fine. Nice it is all wood even though it is basic pine

It's good enough for a starter.

You need Steele wool, light sanding, felt or soft Velcro on sliding parts, lots of detail work, finishing this thing. Shellac needs rough spots smoothed. Handles too sharp underneath. Good price, easy to assemble. Instructions missed telling me to use 6 extra bolts to hold desk to legs... But it was obvious. Sits flat, sturdy. There has got to be a better way to mount the bars to hold the bench block. Wood screws? In a tight space??? It's good enough for a starter.

First Bench

All went well putting it together until I went to put the hardware in to attach the bench top to the legs. The rear predrilled holes didn't line up at all. The drawer faces were also loose, tried to bang them back together but they just kept coming loose. think I'm going to have to take home off and glue them. Otherwise, really excited to have my first bench all set up.
