This ultra white fabrication alloy is nickel based. Contains no gold. Contains no silver. Suitable for making white gold alloy from 10K to 18K. This is a multi-purpose casting and fabrication alloy. Sold by the troy ounce (20 DWT).
Note: There are proprietary metals in the formulation which are not included in the composition section.
You should obtain excellent results by following a few simple instructions.
We do recommend pre-alloying all alloy and fine gold with aggressive stirring & fluxing to assure a uniform mixture.
Step : 1
Pre- Alloying (Fine gold + alloy) Temperature 1090C - 1100C / 1994F - 2030F
Step : 2
Casting Temperature for 10K Alloyed Grain 1085C - 1105C / 1985F - 2021F
Casting Temperature for 14K Alloyed Grain 1025C- 1045C / 1877F- 1913F
Casting Temperature for 18K Alloyed Grain 995C - 1015C / 1832F - 1859F
NOTES: Melt temperature may vary with type of unit. This alloy is designed for casting and fabrication application.
Flask Temperature: Normal recommended temperature in the range of 540 C to 675 C / 1004° F – 1247° F depending on size of flask, karat & type of jewelry.
Fluxing white gold is extremely important to pick-up oxides. Boric Acid is the recommended flux. Do not use carbon fluxes or any fluxes designed for refining; i.e., soda ash, saltpeter, etc. Avoid flux in bottom pour automatic casting units.
Quench Time: 25 minutes.
Investment Removal: Most standard investment removers will successfully remove the investment powder. Use of aggressive acids causes stress corrosion and surface damage and is therefore not recommended.
Removal: We recommend a 70% fresh - 30% scrap mix. White gold alloy has about 1/3 the reusability of yellow gold alloys.
