The new Ottoflex S Model 2 flex shaft is a top-quality choice for jewelers and crafts people looking for an alternative to higher priced models.  

We finally found an import with a proven track record that we can trust with our name. 

Compared to other value priced made in China flex shafts we have sold (under the Grobet USA, EuroTool and Glardon-Vallorbe brand names) the new Ottoflex S has a superior foot control and a better quality handpiece.  The foot control gives good low speed control and offers a nice modulation in speed all the way up to full power.  The fit and finish of the No. 30 style adjustable chuck handpiece is noticeably better than previous models.  The sealed bearing motor is rated at 1/8 HP with a maximum speed of 20,000 RPM.

The Ottoflex S Model 2 has a one year warranty on the motor and 90 day warranty on the handpiece, shaft & sheath.

The Ottoflex S Model 2 flex shaft is compatible with all Foredom handpieces and 110V speed controls.

The new Ottoflex S Model 2 shares no parts with the original OttoFlex flex shafts. The shafts and sheaths of this flex shaft are similar to ones used on the Foredom SR model.

The handpiece

I am reviewing the handpiece separately from the motor and shaft because the handpiece has a serious, dangerous flaw. Foredom’ s hand-piece, on which this is based, has an outside aluminum sheath which covers the rotor teeth. The teeth are not covered by the sheath on this handpiece. The top of my finger slipped into the teeth while the hand piece was in use. The skin was pinched between the teeth and was getting pulled down into the device. It was painful and horrible. I suggest you buy the foredom original hand piece.

Powerful, with some flaws

I couldn’t spend much on a rotary tool. I got this one and there are many things to recommend it. It is powerful, runs smoothly, and is very quiet, especially compared to my dremel.
On the down side, I didn’t notice that it doesn’t have a reverse. Or, an on off switch. I have to unplug it when I’m not using it, if I don’t, I could accidentally step on the foot control, causing the motor and handpiece to jump and run without me! Yikes.
