These standard 5.8 mm friction ear nuts are used on many of the earrings we sell.  The nuts could be considered heavyweight by today's standard.  These top quality made in the USA friction backs will leave a good impression on your customers.  These friction ear nuts work best with post diameter thickness from 0.76 mm (.030" or approximately 20 gauge) to 0.97 mm (.038" or approximately 18 gauge).  The diameter measurement of 5.8 mm is taken at the widest part of the nut.
