General Instructions:
• Very little boric acid flux is recommended. Do not use carbon flux such as soda ash, saltpeter etc. No flux needed in bottom pour automatic casting unit. • Flouric based investment removers are the best for silicon oxide invisible coating. Use of aggressive acid causes corrosion and surface damage. • To calculate the weight of the metal needed (in grams), multiply density (gm/cc) with weight of wax (grams) . Add 10% of the total weight for button. • Gypsum bonded investment is recommended. Follow manufacturers instruction for burnout cycle.
You should obtain excellent results by following a few simple instructions.
We do recommend pre-alloying all alloy and fine gold with aggressive stirring & fluxing to assure a uniform mixture.
Step : 1
Pre- Alloying (Fine gold + alloy) Temperature 9K-18K 1050C - 1060C / 1922F - 1940F
Step : 2
Casting Temperature for 10K Alloyed Grain 960C - 980C / 1760F - 1796F
Casting Temperature for 14K Alloyed Grain 985C - 1005C / 1805F - 1841F
Casting Temperature for 18K Alloyed Grain 980C - 1000C / 1796F - 1832F
NOTES: Melt temperature may vary with type of unit. This alloy is designed for casting and fabrication application.
Flask Temperature: Normal recommended temperature in the range of 540 C to 675 C / 1004° F – 1247° F depending on size of flask, karat & type of jewelry.
Quench Time: 15 – 25 minutes.
Investment Removal: Most standard investment removers will successfully remove the investment powder. Use of aggressive acids causes stress corrosion and surface damage and is therefore not recommended.
Removal: We recommend a 60% fresh - 40% scrap mix. White gold alloy has about 1/3 the reusability of yellow gold alloys.
