Description

Best Workholding Solution

Better than any of the thermoset plastics or shellacs. Use a heat gun, not a torch, or you risk carbonizing the residue behind the stones, which must be sanded to remove.

Instructions:
- put a chunk in your regular thermolock/jettset/pitch fixture
- warm with a heat gun until just glossy
- and use your fingers to shape
- insert part
- Cement can be drilled to make room for cullets without loosening the hold.
- set your stones
- if the cement loses its hold or chips, gently reheat and mold with your fingers

Cleanup:
- Warm your part (not the cement) with a heat gun while applying upward pressure with your tweezers
- It will lift with minimal residue - the part is warm, but the cement is cool.
- Ultrasonic in a glass dish with acetone for 2 minutes
- It takes 15 minutes to remove cement with a warm hot plate for stones like Tanzanites

For Emeralds, wrap the piece with saran wrap before setting it in the cement. It won't hold as firmly, but the saran wrap prevents the cement residue from adhering to the part.
