Jumbo Square Shaped Set of 2 Disc Cutters in Wood Box

Stop sawing jumbo squares — just punch them out. This set of two jumbo square disc cutters gives metalsmiths and jewelers a fast, clean way to produce large square metal blanks without sawing. Housed in a fitted wood storage box, the set includes a 32mm and a 38mm square cutter, covering the larger blank sizes commonly needed for pendants, tags, and statement metalwork.

Each cutter is manufactured from properly hardened tool steel. The cutting edges are individually fitted to their matching holes with extremely close tolerances, producing clean, precise blanks with minimal finishing work. These cutters are designed for use on soft precious and non-ferrous metals — including gold, silver, copper, brass, and nickel silver — up to 20 gauge thick. Use with a mallet on a rubber pad or in a hydraulic press.

How to Use a Disc Cutter

1. Place the disc cutter on top of a rubber pad for support.
2. Apply a cutting lubricant — such as Stay Sharp — to the cutting edges of the punch.
3. Strike with a suitable mallet only; never use a nail-driving hammer. A brass mallet is recommended.
4. Support the opposite side of the cutter with a sheet of the same diameter metal being cut. This keeps upper and lower cutter sections aligned and reduces material sticking.
5. Do not exceed the maximum recommended cutting thickness for the cutter.
6. Cut only soft non-ferrous metals such as brass, copper, silver, and gold.
7. Ensure cutting edges are facing down before striking.
8. To prevent rust, keep cutters lubricated between uses and store in a dry location.
9. Use with a 95 durometer urethane pad to help extend cutter life.
