3M™ Diapad™ Diamond Hand Laps are precision diamond abrasive pads featuring a flexible, contoured foam base and a 100% diamond-coated surface arranged in a uniform dot pattern. Designed for quick, consistent cutting on hard-to-sand materials, these hand laps provide efficient finishing and polishing for jewelers, metalsmiths, and enamel artists.

Bond Type Notes

  • Metal Bonded (Nickel): More heat resistant; preferred for heavy material removal.
  • Resin Bonded: Slightly more forgiving on delicate surfaces; suited for final finishing.

Technical Insight

These diamond abrasives are graded in microns (µm). A higher micron number means a larger abrasive particle and a coarser cut. Because diamond is the hardest known abrasive, each grit size easily removes the previous scratch pattern, even with large step differences between grits.
