GRS 023-465 AlexTools by GRS Divider 80mm

I really wanted a pair of the original Alex dividers, but they were sold out before I could purchase them. I understand they are a truly great tool. The new version is just a little bit better. The are made of steel instead of aluminum and the weight helps keep some down force on them so they continue track properly; if making lines or circles. The carbide tips are actually smaller too. For those jewelers and stone setters that work under a microscope; you only have a limited field of view. They also have a tab inside the legs that align them when they are fully compressed. It makes it easy to polish them and know that everything is even. On the downside GRS has to use a huge box for tiny tools. It would have been nice if GRS packaged them in a nice collectors box like the original version. The are a second set of caps I have know clue what for. It also would have been nice if they added a replacement set of carbide tips. I don’t think the tips from the original black aluminum Alex GRS dividers. Still these things are amazing are well balanced in the hand and easy to manipulate. They just fit the hand so well. The price may be higher than anything else available. However, you will never get the comfort from Starrett or comparable products. These have really nice carbide tips that you won’t find on other dividers. Worth every penny; still believe they should have come with a nice collectors box for easy storage and and extra set of carbide tips.

The fit, finish, and high-end quality of this divider pleasantly surprised me, even though I was hesitant to order it as I found it somewhat overpriced. The images and footage I saw don't do this divider justice. It is exceptionally well-constructed, rigid, and precise. Now that I own it, I must admit, it's well worth the investment.
