Aluminum Oxide Abrasive Media-80, 100 & 180 Micron-5 Lb Jars

Aluminum Oxide is used as a sandblasting media to achieve a "sparkely" effect on metals and glass.  If you looked under a microscope, the individual grains of aluminum oxide media would have various sharp points, unlike the smooth surface you would see if you were looking at glass beads, the other popular media used in sandblasting, or beadblasting. Sold in 5 lb Jars.  Micron graded media works like this-there are 1000 microns to a millimeter.  The larger the number in microns, the larger the particle.  The labels Fine, Medium and Coarse are applied relative to each of micron graded abrasives.

Choose from 3 Micron grades:

• 123.020F  80 Micron (Fine)
• 123.020M  100 Micron (Medium)
• 123.020C  180 Micron (Coarse)

Surface preparation is of vital importance before polishing, burnishing and plating. Surface roughness may be provided by blasting with media, either abrasives or glass beads. Different surface finishes may be generated by varying the parameters if the micron size of abrasives and air pressure. The degree of matte to satin finish depends on the hardness of the material.
