These easy-to-use and remarkably affordable Bangle Bracelet Forming Press Steel Die Sets let you create patterned bangle bracelets without the need for an expensive hydraulic press. Built as 2-part tool steel dies, they are similar in design to ring and hoop presses but scaled up — large enough to form bangle bracelets up to 2-7/8" OD from wire as thick as 10 gauge (2.6 mm).
This listing is for the Transverse 18 Pattern Bangle Bracelet Forming Press Steel Die Set.
To use, bend copper, brass, silver, or gold wire (up to 10 gauge / 2.6 mm thick) into an oval or round shape no larger than 2-7/8" across. Separate the die halves and place the formed wire between them. For round bangles, use one of the included aluminum spacers to center your wire — note that spacers will deform during use, which is expected. For oval bangles, take care to center the wire manually; the aluminum spacers may still assist. Once the wire is positioned, replace the top die half. Set the die assembly on a sturdy work surface with a thin urethane or rubber pad underneath to cushion the strike, then strike the top of the die with a weighted rawhide mallet, a shot-filled mallet, or a large rubber mallet. Remove the finished bangle and size as needed — join the ends for a closed bangle or finish them for an open style.
Plain wire of any profile or pattern wire may be used. Create custom pattern wire with a rolling mill and draw plate.
To prevent rusting, these dies are packed in a lubricant that should be removed before first use. Apply a thin coating of oil after each use to keep the dies rust-free.
