Product Details

Makes Round Discs in the following sizes: 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 7/8", 1", 1 1/8", and 1 1/4" Metric size range: 3.1mm to 31.7mm

This disc cutter set is used to produced round disks of metal from soft precious metals such as gold, silver or copper up to 20 gauge thick. Other jewelry metals such as copper, brass, and nickel silver can also be cut using care and common sense. Use with a mallet or in a hydraulic press. The India made sets we import are very well made using hardened tool steel having sharp edges and very close tolerances. This set has a lever style separating device, that is used to quickly separate the upper section of the disk cutter from the lower section to help remove punches that become stuck in the cut metal. The pad is not used if using a hydraulic press. Measures 5-1/2" round by 3" high. Made in India.

How to use a disc cutter:
  • Use a cutting lubricant, like Stay Sharp, to lubricate the cutting edges of the punch.
  • Use a suitable mallet, never a nail driving hammer. We suggest brass mallets.
  • Always support the opposite side of the cutter with a sheet of the same diameter metal that you are cutting. This will help keep the upper and lower parts of the disk cutter in alignment and help minimize material sticking in the disk cutter.
  • Do not exceed the maximum thickness recommended for your disk cutter.
  • Only cut soft non-ferrous metals like brass, copper, silver and gold.
  • Make sure your cutting edges are down.
  • To prevent rust, keep your disk cutter lubricated between use and store in a dry location

Works great!!

I have cut lots of the second smallest sized circle and a couple of the 7/8” size circles. This cutter works very well. Cuts are smooth and easy to do. I lube the cutter before each cut and have had no issues with it getting stuck. I use a forging hammer because I don’t have a press. Definitely recommend.

Great economy disc cutter

I bought this disc cutter and have used it 10 or more times. It is very accurate and smooth. Well worth the investment. MUCH better than any economy cutter I’ve used.
