The Foredom H.15 hammer handpiece is an excellent choice for jewelers who need a hammer handpiece, but can't justify spending more for the top of the line Badeco Swiss made reciprocating hammer handpiece.
The Foredom H.15 is supplied with a hardened tip. Tips are interchangeable with the Swiss-made Badeco hammer handpiece.
The Foredom H.15 hammer handpiece is a reciprocating rather than rotary action handpiece. It is used primarily for stone setting but can also be used for texturing, most often with the pave point (diamond tip) accessory, Otto Frei part number 153.195. The diamond tip will produce a bright cut stippled effect. You can also use this handpiece with the Foredom Carbide Tip (HP10212 Otto Frei part number 134.301) for marking or inscribing hardened steel. Threads on these tips are 4-48 US thread, the same as the popular Badeco tips. Use at low speed only (0-5,000 rpm) and only use in forward rotation. The Foredom H.15 hammer handpiece has a 1/32" stroke and its impact force can be adjusted from light to heavy by rotating the silver knurled adjusting ring. Requires periodic lubrication with MS10005-Handpiece Lube, Otto Frei part number 134.343
Had a problem with my Gravermach with a table full of stones to set so I ordered a Foredom 15 hammer handpiece as it was faster than waiting for two weeks for GRS to turn around a rebuild of my engraver. It works well though not as maneuverable as the rubber hose of an engraving handpiece. Got the job done and very controllable.
