The Foredom RT101 is a direct drive rotary tumbler designed for burnishing gold, silver, copper, brass, and other metals. With universal voltage compatibility (100–240V) and a North American plug included, this machine can be used with a simple plug adapter in virtually any country regardless of local voltage. No belts, no complicated maintenance — direct drive means fewer parts to wear out.
Programmable digital controls make repeatable finishing cycles straightforward. Set your timer, choose rotation direction, and dial in one of 20 speed levels ranging from 5 to 100 rpm. A typical work cycle runs approximately 180 minutes.
The compact barrel holds up to 2.2 lbs (1 kg) of media plus up to 7 oz (200 g) of workload, with a rated capacity of 1.16 quarts (1 liter). The see-through barrel interior measures 3" in diameter by 6" in length, allowing you to monitor progress without stopping the cycle.
What is Rotary Tumbling? Rotary tumbling is a proven mass finishing technique for burnishing or cutting metal surfaces. Results develop over several hours or even days—it is the slowest of the mass finishing methods—but it offers the greatest capacity for the investment. Use steel shot media with detergent compounds to burnish and work-harden pieces, or use plastic media with detergents for more aggressive surface cut-down.
