The Fretz Otto Frei-Todd Reed Goldsmithing Hammer was designed in partnership with Todd Reed, Fretz, and Otto Frei. The design blends a planishing hammer with a crosspein hammer and the Fretz classic handle design. Total weight, with the handle, weighs about 195 grams so it has the heft to form large jewelry but can also be used for small elements. The round face is flat which is perfect for planishing, sizing rings and making bezels. The crosspein end is quite sharp and slightly curved, used to upset or texture edges of bezels like Todd Reed’s signature style. The hammer is hardened 420 stainless with a padauk handle that is a pleasure to hold. Fretz HMR-23.
