Product Details

The Fretz Progressive Stake Set—featuring models F-2A, F-2B, and F-2C—is designed by master metalsmith Bill Fretz for forming undulating, fluted designs in sheet metal. Each stake in the set builds on the geometry of the original Fretz F-2 Forming Stake (Otto Frei #112.638) but incorporates a raised ridge along the center line that becomes progressively sharper from stake to stake. This allows for seamless transitions from gentle curves to deeply fluted waves in anticlastic or synclastic forms.

Key Features

  • Set of three progressive forming stakes: F-2A, F-2B, F-2C.
  • Each stake has the same general profile as the F-2, with a center ridge that increases in height and sharpness.
  • Ideal for producing fluted, rippled, or wavelike contours in bracelets, vessels, and other raised forms.
  • Polished stainless steel working surfaces for clean forming and minimal metal marking.
  • Compatible with all standard Fretz stake holders and holders for raising, planishing, or forming hammers.
  • Available only as a complete set; not sold individually.

Applications

  • Creating fluted bangles and cuffs with even undulations.
  • Developing progressive anticlastic or synclastic curves in sheet metal.
  • Forming decorative edges and contours for sculptural or jewelry projects.
