Escapement files — also called watchmakers' files — are narrower and thinner than standard needle files, purpose-built for the most delicate and precise filing work. Every escapement file features a square handle and measures 5½" (14 cm) in total length from tip to handle end. The millimeter measurement always refers to the cut length — the length of the toothed portion — not the overall tip-to-tip length.
This set brings together 12 Cut 4 (Fine) escapement files in a carefully selected assortment of shapes and cut lengths, giving watchmakers and precision metalworkers the variety needed to tackle intricate filing tasks across a range of profiles. Glardon-Vallorbe Swiss Made Precision Files are the world standard for quality and performance, manufactured using a combination of machine cutting and hand craftsmanship. Made from the finest heat-tempered chrome alloy steel, they deliver superior accuracy, exceptional cutting action, and long-lasting durability on all metals. Formerly distributed by Grobet USA under the Grobet Swiss brand name.
Grading note: Glardon-Vallorbe needle files are graded on a scale from 00 (coarsest) to 6 (finest). The higher the number, the finer the cut. This set is Cut 4 — Fine.
